What’s Inside Darkened Demigod: Weapon of War

Darkened Demigod: Weapon of War is a bold post-apocalyptic novel that explores what happens when belief becomes power and expectation turns a leader into something the world can no longer control.

In a fractured future shaped by global instability, humanity searches for protection in extraordinary figures. When public devotion begins to transform leaders into demigods, strength becomes the ultimate political weapon. Nations compete. Alliances shift. Faith and sacrifice fuel power on a scale never seen before.

The story follows Lohannes, a man elevated by millions and shaped by the weight of their hopes, fears, and demands. Once seen as a symbol of protection and strength, he now reflects on the decisions, pressures, and consequences that defined his path.

Blending high-stakes global conflict with deeply personal reflection, the novel explores themes of responsibility, identity, grief, and redemption. It asks difficult questions about leadership, public expectation, and the human cost of power.

For readers who enjoy speculative fiction with emotional depth, complex moral tension, and thought-provoking worldbuilding, Darkened Demigod: Weapon of War delivers an unforgettable journey.

Finding the Voice of Darkened Demigod

When bringing Darkened Demigod: Weapon of War to audio, Shawn Phillips searched for a voice that could capture both the raw intensity of the protagonist and the sharp, intellectual tone of Bookworm. After reviewing dozens of auditions, none fully matched the vision.

Then he played a submission from Slade Hovick.

Within seconds, the choice was clear. The performance didn’t just fit, it elevated the story. Rather than over-direct, Shawn gave Slade the freedom to interpret the material and build on it. With a strong background in voice acting, including work for major brands, Slade brought depth and range that carried into the second book of the series, set for release in March 2026.

Crafting the Visual Identity

The cover art for Darkened Demigod was created by John Gibbons, an artist from Manchester, UK. Introduced through board gaming connections, Shawn shared the core concept and trusted John to develop it further.

The result was a design that exceeded expectations and captured the tone of the story. John is currently working on the cover for the third book, continuing to shape the visual identity of the series.

This collaborative approach reflects Shawn’s belief that the best work comes from giving talented creatives the space to expand on a shared vision.
